UPDATE: The School Board is bringing the referendum BACK on May 9th!
The tax hike will now be $0.15 per $100 of assessed home value.
Turn out the vote on May 9th, 2013 and vote “NO” on the referendum.
If you live in the Appoquinimink School District, life is about to get a little bit tougher unless you get out to the polls this Thursday to stop it.
In these hard economic times, the Appoquinimink School Board is thirsty to spend the last dollars in your piggy-bank.
This tax hike will hit all residents of the school district, whether you are a homeowner, renter, or frequent shopper.
If you own a home, the average $285,000 house will see an approximate $300/yr property tax increase.
If you rent a home or apartment, the costs will be passed on to you through a rise in your rent amounts.
If you shop in the area, look for these tax grabs to be passed on to you in higher prices for everything you buy. (For the curious students out there: Yes, store owners – or their landlords – pay property taxes, too.)
This is the same school board that recently spent $1 Million+ on unnecessarily renovating a barn.
It’s not their money, so they have no problem spending more of it.
And just as thieves get more greedy as they successfully rob more people at gunpoint, government officials get more greedy as they rob through the force of taxation.
This school board is receiving $111 Million dollars from taxpayers this year to manage 16 schools.
Appoquinimink school board members should be finding ways to get money back to you, not ripping more cash out of your wallet that you desperately need to make ends meet.
While they’re feeding their politically creative egos with weird renovation projects, you can’t put food on the table.
And if you can’t feed your kids, they won’t be able to enjoy that million-dollar barn we all paid for.
Go to your polling location on February 28th and VOTE “NO” on this referendum.
