Where Do Your Candidates Stand On Liberty Issues?

Campaign for Liberty

Are you tired of the antics in state politics?

Have you had enough of politicians who verbally claim fidelity to limited government and personal liberty while campaigning but then do the polar opposite after they win the election?

Many of our elected officials on the federal level seem to blatantly ignore our Constitution and Bill of Rights.  And many state officials carry that Big Government philosophy over right into our own backyards.

Every year, new laws are passed limiting our rights and giving unelected bureaucrats new authority to interfere in our lives.

It is imperative we work to repeal the laws that legislators and bureaucrats are using to trample our rights and instead pass common-sense laws that protect our liberty.

That is why Delaware Campaign for Liberty is working on a Candidate Survey Program.  Each candidate for the state legislature received a survey of seven important questions — questions that officially put candidates on record on liberty issues.

Candidates were asked where they stand on:

  • Tax and fee increases
  • Eminent Domain
  • Right to Work
  • Common Core
  • Constitutional Carry
  • Warrantless Surveillance
  • ObamaCare Nullification

Click here to learn where your candidates stand on these important issues.

As we work toward liberty, it is critical to have current and potential legislators on record concerning constitutional issues.  Therefore, it is vital we receive responses from as many candidates as possible.

Some candidates don’t want to go on the record – they are using evasive maneuvers to avoid responding to our questions.

Their silence betrays them.  If they can’t be trusted to answer basic liberty questions, they certainly can’t be trusted to vote correctly if elected.

If your candidates have not yet answered our questions, please take a moment to contact them and ask them to complete and return their Campaign for Liberty surveys right away.

Will you accept the “Ruckle Reset” meters?

I just received the email attached below from Brett Zingarelli and I’m not surprised at how out-of-control the Newark, DE City Council has become. If you live in — or ever travel to — the City of Newark, DE, you will be affected by a change to their parking money meters.

And if you do not live in Newark, I’m willing to bet similar things are happening in your town that need to be exposed.

This is a great example of how important it is to keep the pressure on politicians and not believe their promises.

They have a tendency to hit their own “RESET” button.

Walking into the meeting, Todd Ruckle of Newark’s District 2 verbally committed to voting NO on this outrageous plan — bringing our activists’ vote count to FOUR Against, which would have defeated this monstrosity.

But when it came to a vote, Todd Ruckle betrayed his constituents and the activists by voting IN FAVOR of the money meter changes.

And to add insult to injury, this is a politician who touts himself as a “fiscally responsible conservative.”

Please read Brett’s email below to get a better understanding of the new “Ruckle Reset” meters in Newark.

And here’s some good news: This can be overturned.

Call the Council members in Brett’s email and demand that they reverse the “Ruckle Reset” ordinance that was passed last night.

And be sure to tell Mr. Ruckle at (302)893-1601 to press his RESET button again.

Eric,At the Newark Council Meeting last night, there was a 4 to 3 vote in favor of stealing your hard-earned money.

Earlier this year, while our streets were flooding because the Council won’t fund repair of our storm water drains, the City Council approved a $300,000 deal for new parking meters that accept credit cards under the guise of “ease of use.”

And last night, FOUR council members decided to take it a step further —

— voting to activate a feature of these new meters that RESETS THE METERS when a vehicle pulls away from a parking spot that was paid for.

Here’s what this means to you:

  • You will never again pull in to pick up something from one of our Main Street businesses (like Take-Out food) and get the pleasant surprise of leftover time on the meter from the person who was there before you.
  • All extra money left on the meter will immediately go to the city instead of benefiting the community for parking as intended.
  • Council members who voted for these meters are trusting machines running on vulnerable, wireless WiFi networks with YOUR credit card information.
The four City Council members who voted for the RESET feature were upset that we slowed down their spending spree last year; mobilizing members of the community to defeat a 1% increase to your property taxes. Those members are:

Mayor Polly Sierer
Todd Ruckle (District 2)
Marge Hadden (District 4)
Stu Markham (District 6, Deputy Mayor)

Their excuse for voting in favor of the RESET feature was that it would “offset” their loss from not being able to raise your taxes.

But the Council admitted last night that the new meters, without the RESET feature, will bring in an estimated $740,000 of YOUR MONEY for the City Administration — equal to a 14% property tax increase.

Eric, these four Council members apparently couldn’t settle for that — still moving forward with the RESET feature for an additional, estimated $55,000.

This parking meter project continues a long trail of high dollar, low priority spending by our City Council instead of fixing the storm water drain system that is causing damage for so many of our residents and businesses.

Please call these Council members TODAY and tell them to stop spending like sailors while floating around on our flooding streets:

It’s Election Season. Do You Know Where the Candidates Stand?

Campaign for Liberty

Are you tired of not knowing where candidates really stand on critical liberty issues?

Campaign season is upon us, and we’ve all heard the political rhetoric that comes with it.

Many of our legislators have gotten comfortable spewing pithy talking points and safely winning re-election year after year.

They count on you to forget their voting records and put party “loyalty” over principle, while expecting that you will give them your vote without question – if you vote at all.

“Party over principle” and voter apathy have led to loss of liberty, and it’s time to put an end to this destructive cycle.

But how do we go about interrupting this cycle?

We must force candidates out of their comfort zones by demanding real answers to important liberty questions rather than letting politicians parrot meaningless talking points.

We must learn where candidates stand on important issues so we are prepared for the legislative season.

And we must open the lines of communication between you and your would-be lawmakers now so they will be expecting you to keep a watchful eye on them later.

That is why Delaware Campaign for Liberty is working on a Candidate Survey Program. Each candidate for the state legislature will soon be receiving a survey of seven important questions – questions that will put candidates on the record on liberty issues.

Candidates will be asked where they stand on:

    • Tax and fee increases
    • Eminent domain
    • Right to Work
    • Common Core
    • Constitutional Carry
    • Drones
    • ObamaCare nullification

As we work toward liberty, it is imperative to have current and potential legislators on record concerning constitutional issues.

Many candidates will not want to go on record with their position on issues that are important to you.  They would prefer to stick to their tired talking points, and they will ignore our survey unless you – their potential constituents – provide a little inspiration.

If candidates can’t answer basic liberty questions, they certainly can’t be trusted to vote correctly if elected.

Please call or visit your State House and Senate candidates and ask that they complete and submit answers to the Campaign for Liberty survey that will soon be in their mailboxes.  Click here to find the list of candidates who have filed.

Their deadline to answer is August 26, and results will be posted at CampaignForLiberty.org shortly after the deadline.

Politicians prefer to travel the path of least resistance.  By applying enough pressure, we can force them to go on the record on key liberty issues.

In Liberty,

Eric Boye
State Coordinator
Delaware Campaign for Liberty

P.S. Campaign for Liberty does not support, endorse, or oppose candidates for office.  The goal of the Campaign for Liberty survey is only for keeping candidates true to their word should they be elected.  It should not be construed as an endorsement of any candidate.

You are encouraged to research each of your candidates to make an informed decision on their positions.

Victory again. Are you hungry for more?

Campaign for Liberty

The last day of the Delaware state legislative session was a success.Campaign for Liberty activists were in the halls, and our legislation tracking brochures were printed, folded, and handed out.

The brochures were also posted online so activists could make phone calls from home, and every state legislator even received one.

They knew we were serious.

The majority of us stayed until the end – at 3:30 a.m. the next day.

And of the 20 bills that were on our handout, only 3 passed that night.

The voting records of those three bills will become forever enshrined in our growing Hall of Shame.

But all of the major bills we rallied against this year were left to die on the cutting room floor:

  • All remaining gun bills
  • The Gag Act
  • Single-payer, state-run health care
  • And many more…
Now we need to continue our momentum and lay the groundwork for next year.We know they will be back.  We know they will further attack our liberties and freedoms.

But next year will not be an election year, so they will need to experience an even stronger and organized effort from us.

We’ll need an army.

Our Local Coordinator program is the heart and soul of our movement’s future, identifying patriots in every neighborhood across the state to own a piece of our mobilization efforts.

This creates a grassroots army of messengers for liberty, and we have not yet tapped into this powerful program.

It doesn’t even require much time or effort.  We just need a lot of people to be a part of it.

It’s time for liberty.

Please join us at one of the county meetings this month as we cover the events of June 30th, as well as our next big step to reversing government overreach in our state.

Kent County – Wednesday, July 16, from 7-9 p.m.
Levy Court Administration Complex (Room 221)
555 South Bay Road
Dover, DE 19901

Sussex County – Friday, July 18, from 7-9 p.m.
Abundant Life Church
20488 Donovans Road
Georgetown, DE 19947

New Castle County – Monday, July 21, from 7-9 p.m.

Bear Library
101 Governors Plaza
Bear, DE 19701

There is no question that we are having an effect on the direction of our state.

Now we have the opportunity to build and properly prepare to confront the system with an even stronger organization to match next year’s challenge.

We will also be fielding volunteers for our booth at the Middletown Peach Festival on August 16th.

Please attend at one of the dates and times listed above.

In Liberty,

Eric Boye
Delaware State Coordinator
Campaign for Liberty

P.S. Out of 20 bills we were publicly engaged against on the last day of Delaware’s legislative session, only 3 were passed.

Those votes will be carefully enshrined in our Delaware Hall of Shame.

But now it’s time to build on our success.  Please attend one of the county meetings listed above this month, and play your part in this growing movement for liberty.

Do YOU have what it takes to be a C4L Leader?

Campaign for Liberty

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.– Warren G. Bennis

Delaware Campaign for Liberty is looking for top-notch leaders who are willing to learn and apply our proven model.

All across the country, Campaign for Liberty grassroots activists are taking the political class by storm.

A County Coordinator from Maryland was recently seen by millions nationwide taking the NSA battle straight to his Congressman at a constituent Town Hall meeting.

In South Carolina, after several heated liberty battles, it was revealed the Governor’s administration admitted during a particularly intense fight that they “didn’t want to be on the wrong side of Campaign for Liberty.”

Here in Delaware, our liberty activists are being credited for defeating one of the most significant attacks on the Second Amendment to come out of the gun-control lobby this year.

Georgia activists defeated a measure to use the local airport as a regional Drone base.

Others have thwarted their local government’s constant demands for tax increases at every turn.

These activists have taken the time to learn and implement C4L’s winning model, and they are defeating statist schemes at every level within their state.

Do you believe in individual liberty and constitutional government?

Are you tired of Big Government’s attacks on your rights?

Are you ready to do what it takes to neutralize the anti-liberty politicians in your Township, School Board, and City Council?

If you are ready to take control of your political destiny, click here to fill out your Leadership Interest Form.

Are you willing to learn and apply our proven model?

C4L leaders are provided with extensive training options and materials, and they receive support from state leadership and State Operations staff.

C4L leaders are the first to hear about real-life examples of the success of fellow leaders, allowing for a great cross-training experience.

Do you have the desire to lead but lack experience? Don’t let that stop you! Some of the most successful C4L coordinators in the country started out with little or no experience.

Our training materials will provide you with:

  • Tips on how to grow your local group;
  • A clear understanding on why the typical “Access-Based” lobbying method does not work;
  • Proven techniques other successful C4L groups are implementing;
  • Tips on how to employ these effective techniques to achieve meaningful victory;
  • And much, much more.

You don’t need vast experience in the field to be selected as a new coordinator.

If you are serious about learning what it takes to win, are willing to apply the C4L model, and have a desire to lead others to victory, we have the tools to help you succeed.

However, Campaign for Liberty leadership is probably NOT for you if:

  • You want to make friends with the political class;
  • You are easily intimidated;
  • You are willing to back down on an issue battle based on the word of a politician;
  • You think thanking politicians will help restore your rights;
  • You think it is perfectly acceptable to sacrifice your or your neighbor’s liberty and freedom if it is for “the greater good of society”;
  • You are convinced blogging and social networking is all it will take to win;
  • You believe a single issue or action, or exposing a conspiracy, will solve all ills;
  • You think the country is too far-gone, and you are now eagerly awaiting the collapse.

If you are ready to join the winning team, click here now to fill out your Leadership Interest Form.

I look forward to working with you!

In Liberty,

Eric Boye

Capitalism Needs a New Narrative

by Regan Hines

July 3, 2013

“We believe that business is good because it creates value, it is ethical because it is based on voluntary exchange, it is noble because it can elevate our existence, and it is heroic because it lifts people out of poverty and creates prosperity.  Free-enterprise capitalism is the most powerful system for social cooperation and human progress ever conceived.  It is one of the most compelling ideas we humans have ever had.  But we can aspire to something even greater.”

Those are words from John Mackey and Raj Sisodia’s book Conscious Capitalism: Liberating the Heroic Spirit of Business.  For too long, business has been on the defensive.  People have viewed business as inherently selfish and self-serving.  People have viewed business as having only one goal, profit maximization.  It is viewed as greedy and exploitative.

Mackey and Sisodia make the compelling case for the heroic side of business. After all, more people have risen out of poverty in the last two centuries precisely due to capitalism.  Capitalism allows for the greatest innovation and exchange of ideas in the world.  Businesses create value for society.  Unlike government, business is based on voluntary exchange, not force.  Businesses must offer a product or service that is worth more than the price in order for customers to voluntarily make that purchase.  With this system we have a greater diversity of products and services than ever before.  Average people eat meals everyday that royalty living a few centuries ago never had access to.  Our standard of living has increased exponentially during the age of capitalism.  Businesses must compete to satisfy customers’ needs so the process of improvement never ends.   Through the process of competition customers are rewarded with better quality products at lower prices.

Mackey and Sisodia make the crucial point that business will be even more successful if they are conscious of their purpose and focus on creating value for all stakeholders.  All too often companies look for tradeoffs with suppliers, customers, distributors, investors, etc. rather than looking for win-win solutions or what the authors call win6 solutions. If companies actively pursue mutually beneficial relationships and recognize the interdependencies among all stakeholders they will have more success and remain successful over the long-term.  Looking for shortcuts may work in the short term or result in a boost in quarterly profits that look good for the shareholders but companies need to be conscious of their purpose in order to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global environment.  It may seem counterintuitive, but focusing on satisfying stakeholders as an end in itself rather than profits alone, companies will generate even more profits.  The authors make another crucial point about human nature.  Humans are not just cogs in a wheel that can be motivated by the stick and carrot approach.  That strategy may work for certain enterprises but it is increasingly becoming an ineffective strategy to motivate employees.  Humans enjoy and are motivated by creating value for others.  If you decentralize and empower workers they will work harder, treat customers better, and innovate to create even more value for the company.  It is time for capitalism to be held up for what it is.  The greatest economic system humans ever came up with.

Businesses must adopt the model of conscious capitalism in order to provide an even clearer picture of what is best for society.  During times of crisis like an economic collapse, you can bet that governments around the world will clamor for a system with more regulation and control of the economy.  If statists succeed in their goals, a system based on coercion, corruption, and crony-capitalism will be instituted.  But if people have a clear understanding of the superiority of a free-market system based on voluntary association the choice will be obvious.  The narrative about business must be revised to accurately portray the beauty of capitalism and the heroic spirit of business.  John Mackey and Raj Sisodia’s, Conscious Capitalism is a great start in achieving this.  Business leaders around the world would be smart to adopt the practices outlined in this great book.

Conscious businesses can help evolve our world in such a way that billions of people can flourish, leading lives infused with passion, purpose, love, and creativity—a world of freedom, harmony, prosperity, and compassion.”—Excerpt from The Conscious Capitalism Credo

The Hard Truth in Delaware

Campaign for Liberty

“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.” ~Thomas Paine

Here’s a hard truth — we all need to assume some responsibility and work together to regain our lost liberty.

As state legislators in Dover end the 2013 legislative season-of-slaughter on your God-given rights, you and I need to rally more ground forces to confront them next year and focus locally.

Debating current events online (or just watching our country unravel in the media) is a sure-fire way to always be disappointed. It’s just plain unproductive.

Our meetings for June may be the most important yet, as we continue to build our strength in the fight for liberty in Delaware.

I’ll list those dates and times in a moment, but first let me list the productive, grassroots activities we will engage in at our meetings this month.

POTENTIAL BATTLES

Together, we will discuss how we can get the word out on the following issues:

  • Property Rights
  • Unmanned Law Enforcement Devices
  • Education Freedom
  • Firearms Freedom
  • Health Care Freedom

There’s a battle to be fought at every school board, town board, and county council — every single day.

The June meeting is the perfect chance to raise attention to any local, anti-liberty legislation regarding those five issues
.

We’ll assess each one, using the tools we have been taught; and watchdogs will be assigned to follow specific, potential battles to take on.

It’s absolutely critical you bring ideas to these meetings.

GRASSROOTS GROUND GAME

People talk, but patriots walk.

Trust me, I remember how comfortable the couch is after a long week of work.

But my own wife, who is 30 weeks pregnant, will be leading three 2-hour shifts of door-to-door canvassing, in West New Castle County, this Saturday.

And bless her heart — I couldn’t talk her out of it. If she can do it, so can the rest of us.

Members will work together to establish door-knocking teams and schedules at each meeting, so we can reach out to local communities, and find out where our neighbors stand on the five liberty issues listed above.

Then, we can mobilize like-minded neighbors.

Our goal is to have active door-knocking operations statewide by July, and boots-on-the-ground in all 3 counties every Saturday this summer.

But I need your help to make that a reality
.

Remember the words of American Patriot Nathan Hale as he was about to be hanged by the British on September 22nd, 1776:

“I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.”

I hope you agree that we can all do more for our liberty.

And every step you take on pavement this summer will help us take on politicians at the local level for the rest of this year and beyond.

Here are the times and locations for the June meetings:

West New Castle County – Monday, June 17th, from 7-9 p.m.
Newark Senior Center (Activity Room)
200 White Chapel Drive
Newark, DE 19713

South New Castle County – Thursday, June 20th, from 7-9 p.m.
North Star Grill & Lounge
380 E. Main Street
Middletown, DE 19709

Sussex County – Friday, June 21st, from 7-9 p.m.
Abundant Life Church
20488 Donovans Road
Georgetown, DE 19947

North New Castle County – Wednesday, June 26th, from 7-9 p.m.
Emmanuel Presbyterian Church
1006 Wilson Road
Wilmington, DE 19803

Kent County – Thursday, June 27th, from 7-9 p.m.
Levy Court Complex, Room 221
555 South Bay Road
Dover, DE 19901

Your freedoms on all five of the above issues are under heavy attack today, and will continue to be in the foreseeable future.

The grassroots of Delaware must come alive in an efficient and aggressive counter-attack to the statist agenda.

I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.

In Liberty,

Eric R. Boye
State Coordinator
Delaware Campaign for Liberty
302-SAY-2-CFL (302-729-2235)

P.S. Help contribute to the fight for liberty in Delaware. Join us at the next meeting in your region, and bring your ideas for potential battles.

P.P.S. Please join our door-to-door canvassing effort. Without your help, we are one patriot short of fighting the statist, big government forces in Delaware.
