Free Speech Prohibition

Campaign for Liberty

I never thought I’d actually live to see it. Not in this country.

Our First Amendment rights are now under attack in Delaware.

We’ll be talking about this at our meetings this month, in addition to our ongoing efforts to fight Common Core, anti-2nd Amendment legislation, and local battles in your area.

House Bill 187 was introduced by Representative Edward Osienski and cosponsored by Representative John Kowalko and Senator David Sokola.

It will force charitable organizations – both state and national – to maintain a burdensome level of administrative costs, labor-intensive record keeping, and privacy-shredding reporting requirements.

The bill will also prohibit organizations from soliciting for new members and donations unless they use state-approved, registered solicitation vendors.

All three of these sponsoring politicians are from Newark, DE.

The Newark City Council has been repeatedly stopped in the last year by our activists on fights involving the 4th Amendment, 2nd Amendment, Rain Taxes, and Property Rights.

And Delaware C4L just beat them for the second time on a major piece of unconstitutional legislation.

Politicians do not like citizens standing up to their anti-liberty agendas.

So now they’re coming for our 1st Amendment rights because without freedom of speech, we can’t fight anything at all.

House Bill 187 will force donor-driven, charitable organizations operating in Delaware into a new registration, taxation, and tracking scheme.

House Bill 187 just passed out of the House Economic Development/Banking/Insurance/Commerce Committee.

It sailed through by a vote of 7 to 1.

That means it could be voted on in the House as early asMarch 18th.

If this passes, it will virtually stop the operations of charitable organizations in the state – both local and national.

We’ve got all kinds of anti-liberty issues to fight, but without our 1st Amendment rights of speech and assembly, all of our other fights mean nothing.

If it becomes too difficult for people to speak as a group or raise money, make phone calls, print petitions, and everything else that groups do. . .

. . .it’s going to be a liberty-shredding free-for-all in our state’s future.

In short, HB 187 is an onerous law that can be used to punish grassroots citizen groups at will if they dare to speak out against government officials and to control non-profit organizations who don’t bend to the government’s will.

We need to mobilize against this assault on our Constitution, our natural rights, and our ability to work together.

We knew if we had success, the politicians would try to stop us.

Now it’s up to us to stop them – again.

In Liberty,

P.S. Our First Amendment rights are under attack in Delaware. Once those are gone, the rest of our liberties are up for grabs to the power hungry politicians.

Don’t miss your local meeting this month. Please show up at one of the dates and times listed above.
